Message from our Treasurer Robin Smith
A gentle reminder to all members that the standard subscription is now £30 per annum. However, for those long standing members, over 70, who have ceased playing but are still keen to contribute to their club, the committee has agreed that the previous subscription of £15 may be used. Would members who have so far omitted to update their subscription of £30 per annum please contact their Bank now to change their Standing Order.
Please contact the Treasurer Robin Smith if you have any information regarding the following:
- anyone using Currency Solution to pay their subscription;
- who has paid their sub by AFTS under the title 'Mr C & Mrs LM'?;
- identification of a sub under 'Hann mid kent or'.
Tennis First
We would like to bring to your attention the excellent work carried out by Tennis First and our association with the charity.
The Tennis First Charitable Trust (Tennis First) is an independent registered charity (no.1075649) and helps young players throughout the UK who are dedicated to fulfilling their potential of reaching a seniorworld ranking of 250 and better. It makes grants for coaching, travel expenses and training. As we are all aware the future for all tennis players is of course veterans tennis, eventually!
The aim of Tennis First is to give our young potentially great players support in numerous ways, through fund raising.
Please take a look at the Tennis First website accessed through the Links Section and see the events, auctions and opportunities available to you. If you able to offer an auction lot or support Tennis First in any way, please do not hesitate to contact Tennis First Trustee and VLTC of GB member Ken Weatherley - click here to email.
Message from our new Chairman
Firstly, I would like to thank my predecessor Jeremy Woods for all his hard work in helping the club move forward.
Since my appointment in February it has been a busy few months, especially for Graham our Secretary and his wife Caroline.
It was a bumpy road getting the match fixture list together but with all hands on deck the turbulence is finally over.
Our Annual Cocktail Party during the Wimbledon Championships was a great success with approximately 200+ attending on a tropical evening. It is the highlight of our social calendar and is becoming more popular every year.
We are modernising our Web Site with the help of Jim Whittaker and Phil Tovey, so please spread the word to have a look. Good luck in your tennis and I hope you all have a successful season.
